Newport Bush Orchestra - Very Multicultural Indeed

The NBO is still going strong each Monday night in Newport after almost eight years in the saddle.  Greg O'Leary is as enthusiastic as ever about getting people together to play music - whatever the skill level, the idea is that coming along and playing together is a good thing.  Last night's line up included an Englishman, an Irishman, a Canadian, an American, and a Macedonian - plus a couple of Aussies for good measure.  There were the good old tunes, some new ones and a couple of songs - even Newport's own version of Waltzing Matilda got a run.  If you've been thinking you might come one day, just turn up on a Monday night with instrument and you will find a warm and friendly place to play - just like kids.

Despedida Blas and Elisa

A couple of weeks ago we said farewell - or despedida - to Blas and Elisa.  Greg and Helen threw a great party for them and there wine and food and music in just the right proportion.  Here are Blas and Elisa with our own Fairy Alison who welcomed Elisa into the Ukulele Dolls during her stay in Newport.  Lots of love in the pic.  We wish Blas and Elisa the very best for the rest of their travels in Australia, and all the best as their open a Newport Style Open Stage when they get back to Barcelona later this year.  Despidida.
